A Jean Harlow Cocktail on some books.

Jean Harlow Cocktail

Print Recipe
Named after actress Jean Harlow as this was her favourite drink, this is a simple Rum Martini style cocktail. If you like a Martini, this is a nice twist on a classic. If you are a Martini fan, you probably have Vermouth in the house, which is perhaps how you stumbled upon this cocktail when you entered ingredients into our cocktail builder.
As this cocktail is only two ingredients, it's extremely easy to make, however it's important that you have good ingredients, especially in the Rum. What's better, try some different White Rums to see what you like best. Different Rums have different features, so have fun here.
And if you want to try a few Martinis, get some Vodka and Gin as well and do a side by side tasting!

Notes

As mentioned, this cocktail is fabled to be the favourite drink of 1930's actress Jean Harlow. Unfortunately Harlow's Hollywood career was cut short after passing away from kidney failure in 1937, she was only 26 years old. Despite this, she still left her mark on the movie business and remains a relatively well known household name to this day.
And that's perhaps why she has a cocktail named after her! Sure, Rum is great on its own, but adding a little sweetness to it from the Vermouth rounds it out so well. Perhaps that's why two ingredient cocktails containing nothing but a base spirit and Vermouth are so popular...
