Addington

Print Recipe
The Addington is a relatively not well known classic low alcohol cocktail. We're not going to go as far as to say that it's unknown, because, well, it's here and people know about it. But as classic cocktail recipes go, the Addington isn't one of those recipes that is super popular the Daiquiri.
But, like so many classic cocktails, the Addington couldn't be simpler. It's only three ingredients: Sweet Vermouth, Dry Vermouth, and a bit of Soda Water. This should put the strength of this cocktail at less than a standard drink, so you should be able to enjoy one of these without too much guilt. It's actually not even as strong as a glass of wine! So if you're looking for something delicious to enjoy while others are having a wine, perhaps an Addington is the way to go.
Total Time 3 minutes
Servings 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 30 mL Sweet Vermouth
  • 30 mL Dry Vermouth
  • 30 mL Soda Water chilled

Instructions

  • Add Dry Vermouth and Sweet Vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice.
  • Stir everything until it's well mixed and cold.
  • Strain the mixture into a Coupe Glass.
  • Top up with Soda water.

Notes

As this recipe is basically just a mixture of two different types of Vermouth, make sure you're using the good stuff. It's easy to think you can go cheap on Vermouth, but even for recipes that aren't quite as forward with the ingredient, you should still be using something of decent quality. After all, your cocktail is only going to be as good as the ingredients you're using.
With that in mind, every brand of Vermouth is different. You may find some brands suit your taste more than others. Consider the Addington a good opportunity to experiment with different Vermouth brands and make a mixture of two that you think works best for you.
