Notes

Where the name and recipe for the Negroni came from has largely been lost in time, however, the drink likely originated in Italy in the early 1900's. The more popular story (legend?) is that the Count de Negroni wanted a stronger version of a popular Campari, Vermouth, and soda drink, so he asked the bartender to add Gin.
As with a lot of stories about the origins of a given cocktail, how much truth is in the above story is completely unknown. Either way, it doesn't matter. The Negroni is a great cocktail and it's a fun story.
