A Gin Buck cocktail in a rocks glass.

Gin Buck

Print Recipe
The Gin Buck is part Moscow Mule and part Gin and Tonic. It's also very easy to make and tastes great! Seriously this cocktail is only two ingredients: Gin and Ginger Beer. That's all it takes! We suppose simply naming this cocktail "Gin and Ginger Beer" didn't sound quite as fun as "Gin Buck" though. But really, a "Buck" is just a general classification of cocktail that mixes a based spirit with Ginger Beer, and often some sort of citrus juice. The Moscow Mule is probably the most famous Buck style cocktail. And these days, most people will call something like this a "Mule" rather than a "Buck," but it's really all the same.
If you like the Gin Buck, or the Moscow Mule, it's good to know that you can add spirit to Ginger Beer and that it will probably taste good. Try experimenting a little bit to see what works best for you!

Notes

This is, indeed, a very easy to make cocktail, but don't be lazy about it. Remember that your cocktail will only be as good as the ingredients you make. Use a good quality Gin so that the flavour goes up well against the Ginger Beer. With that in mind, only use fresh Ginger Beer. There's no point in having a flat and boring cocktail!
There are some variations out there that also add a bit of Lime Juice to the recipe. However, we've also seen this cocktail be called Gin Mule or London Mule when Lime Juice is added. We've chosen to list them separately, mostly for the sake of how our cocktail builder works. What's in a name really, as long as it's a cocktail that you like!
