Juan Collins
Some call is a Jose Collins, some call it a Tequila Collins, some call it the Juan Collins. We're going to stick with Juan Collins as it's a Tequila variation on the classic cocktail recipe the Tom Collins, and Tom is only one syllable, and so is Juan. They also sound vaguely similar. Finally, the Tom Collins was originally called the John Collins and Juan and John are practically the same. But, whether you call it a Jose Collins, Tequila Collins, or Juan Collins, it's a marvelous cocktail mixing Tequila, Lemon Juice, Agave Syrup, and Club Soda. It's pretty much the same as the Tom Collins recipe, just with the switch to Tequila (and the Agave Nectar of course).So if you're a fan of a classic Tom Collins, this is a nice variation for you to try. It's obviously going to be similar in flavour to the Tom Collins, just with the difference flavour of Tequila. With Gin can be relatively floral and have the obvious taste of Juniper Berries, Tequila is a little sweeter, fruitier, and less dry. Have fun!
Ingredients
- 45 mL Tequila Blanco or any type of Tequila you prefer
- 30 mL Lemon Juice
- 15 mL Agave Syrup
- 150 mL Club Soda or to taste
- Garnish with a wedge of lemon
Instructions
- Build this drink in a glass by adding Tequila, Lemon Juice, and Agave Syrup to a Collins glass filled with plenty of ice.
- Stir everything until it's mixed and cold.
- Top up the drink with Club Soda.
- Add your garnish and serve. Enjoy!
Notes
As mentioned in the ingredients, we suggest a Blanco Tequila, but feel free to use a different variety of Tequila if you prefer or if you have it on hand. Of course the type of Tequila you use will change the flavour here, so feel free to experiment with what you like the best. You're also welcome to experiment with the amount of Club Soda you're using. The Club Soda, of course, adds a nice amount of carbonation to this drink but it also dilutes the flavour a fair bit; adding less Club Soda will give you a more intense flavour which may be your thing!
