A New Orleans Fizz Cocktail on a plate.

New Orleans Fizz

Print Recipe
Sometimes called the Ramos Gin Fizz, this is a classic New Orleans cocktail just like the Sazerac (since it's from the Big Easy), however, it's very different in style. This is a typical fizz drink so it's served in a tall glass and contains egg white. These cocktails look great and taste even better; pure refreshment. For anyone who likes a fizz or a classic cocktail, this one's for you.
The addition of cream to this cocktail adds a lot more foam to the head of this drink than you may find in a typical fizz, and that's half the fun! Not one if you're watching your weight...
Other than that, you can see that this cocktail has a fair amount of ingredients. If you're asking yourself "what cocktail can I make," you may not have all the ingredients initially, but you can work your way up to it.

Although it's only a couple dashes of Orange Flower Water, it adds quite a lot of flavour to the drink. So, even though it's a slightly more unusual ingredient, don't be tempted to leave it out.
The New Orleans Fizz has been around since the late 1800's at the Imperial Cabinet Saloon in New Orleans. It's rumored that at the height of this drink's popularity the bar had to employ 20 bartenders just to keep up with orders for the cocktail.
