Chartreuse Martini

Print Recipe
What happens when you add a bit of Chartreuse to a standard Martini recipe? You get a Chartreuse Martini! This cocktail is basically your standard Gin Martini recipe with green Chartreuse added. That's it...
There's really not much more to this cocktail recipe other than that little variation, but boy does it make a difference.
A cocktail like the Chartreuse Martini goes to show how nice a Martini is as a base for so many other cocktail recipes. Gin and vermouth go well together, hence the staying power of the classic Martini. Chartreuse just ads a little bit more herbal elements to the cocktail that go well with both the dry vermouth and the gin itself. Plus the Chartreuse gives this cocktail a bit more of an alcoholic kick.
Maybe you found yourself here because you're looking for something to do with a nice new bottle of Chartreuse. Maybe you asked "what cocktail can I make" with the bottles you have, and found this recipe. Either way, you're in for a treat.

Notes

The big question from here is whether you think the Chartreuse Martini is better than the classic. Personally, we love the original but, as mentioned, party of the beauty of the Martini is that it's easily open to variations. If you're after a few more variations, check out some of our favourite Martini variations.
Another fun thing to do with the Chartreuse Martini, or any Martini style cocktail for that matter, is to try different gins. The classic Gin Martini calls for a standard London Dry Gin, but you're welcome to experiment. Gin is a great spirit with many different styles. Try them all!
