A Lone Ranger cocktail.

Lone Ranger

Print Recipe
While a recipe containing Tequila, Lemon Juice, and some Simple Syrup doesn't sound surprising, throwing a bit of Sparkling Rosé in there is what makes this cocktail interesting. The standard recipe for the Lone Ranger calls for a Brut Rosé, but feel free to use a style to suit your taste, especially if you want something sweeter.
Other than that, this is a nice cocktail to through into your menu, even if it is a little unusual. Hell, you probably found it by chucking ingredients into our cocktail builder and having this pop out all of a sudden. Even if you are skeptical about the combination, see if you're right or wrong by whipping up a Lone Ranger.

Our Review of the Lone Ranger Cocktail

Here’s a nice and simple cocktail using Tequila. And who doesn’t like Tequila? I know I do!

Starting with a mixture of Tequila, lemon juice, and simple syrup, the Lone Ranger Cocktail almost makes you think you have some sort of Margarita on your hands, exchanging the lime juice for lemon juice of course. Where the Lone Ranger makes a change though is the quite ample addition of sparkling rosé. The recipe calls for a drier rosé, which is nice, but I think it would also work with something sweeter (I didn’t try though). It depends on how sweet you like your drinks, because obviously there’s already a good amount of simple syrup in the cocktail.

So the Lone Ranger has a bit of a Margarita vibe, but a little more than that too. The flavour of rosé can vary depending who and where it’s made, but it can often be quite floral and fruity, depending on how dry it is. Then, of course, there’s the carbonation introduced (since it sparkling rosé), which really makes the Lone Ranger become a thing of its own. Although I’ve compared this cocktail recipe to the Margarita, it really gets quite different.

While I wouldn’t call the Lone Ranger a low alcohol cocktail by any means (look at all that Tequila!), the rosé helps to make the cocktail bigger without adding too much more booze to it. A cocktail with a good amount of liquid is always good in order to provide more and longer refreshment, so I’m happy on that standpoint.

All in all, the Lone Ranger works well. There can be some harshness from the Tequila, but that’s only to be expected with the spirit. If you don’t like Tequila, why are you here anyway? If you want to calm things down a little bit, try a Tequila other than blanco. Something with a little more age too it will be a lot smoother and may be more suited to your tastes. That will change the cocktail quite a bit, but ultimately you want to make something you like. It’s up to you!
