Kind of like a lemony version of a Mint Julep, the Whiskey Smash combines Mint with Lemon and Bourbon from a refreshing cocktail. This is a classic cocktail recipe dating back to the late 1800's. You'll see some similarities to other classic Whiskey cocktails, but also notice some differences.A big thing you'll notice is you're not directly using Lemon Juice. Instead you're muddling lemon wedges with mint. Take care here as this is an important step. You want to get some of the oils out of the lemon peels, rather than just squeezing the juice out.Have fun here.

Notes
*Go here for how to make Simple Syrup at home. This cocktail can be quite sharp if you overdo it on the Lemon Juice or underdo it on the Simple Syrup. Even for people who usually dial back the sugar in their cocktails will probably find that they need the full allotment from the recipe. However, the tartness of of the Lemon in this drink can be quite refreshing.
