Naked and Famous
The Naked and Famous is another variation on the the wonderful Last Word cocktail. The Last Word is a great cocktail, so there are a lot of ways to riff on it, use it for inspiration, and make something a little bit different. Is the Naked and Famous better than the Last Word? That's up to you really! The Naked and Famous takes the formula and uses a mezcal base rather than gin. Although the Chartreuse is still there and adds plenty of flavour, the Naked and Famous uses Aperol to give a bitter sweet element rather than maraschino liqueur. It's great, and just different enough to keep things fun and interesting.

Notes
As mentioned, the Naked and Famous grows on the Last Word, which is just one of those cocktail recipes that people just love to love. The big standout here, however, is that this is a mezcal based cocktail. Mezcal can be a bit of an intense base spirit for cocktails, but it's well worth getting into.
There are plenty of original recipe mezcal based cocktails out there, as well as some great variations on standard cocktails using mezcal. The Mezcal Old Fashioned and Mezcal Sour are pretty good examples of this.
So, if you like a Last Word cocktail, start exploring the wonderful world of mezcal with a Naked and Famous!
