A Nutty Martini cocktail on a book shelf with assorted items behind it.

Nutty Martini

Print Recipe
If you're looking for a fun dessert drink, look no further than the Nutty Martini. Similar to the standard Vodka Martini, this cocktail ditches the Vermouth and goes with Frangelico instead, creating a sweet and nutty drink to enjoy after dinner.
Or, if you're just a fan of sweeter drinks, you can have this drink any time, not just for dessert! You do you. With that in mind, this recipe calls for a small amount of Simple Syrup. For some, this may make the drink too sweet. If you find a lot of cocktails too sweet, feel free to omit the Simple Syrup or adjust to how you usually like things.
Enjoy!

This is just one of the many variations on the Martini. In a lot of ways this cocktail feels like a Martini mostly because of the way it's served, however it still has the same simplicity to the classic. But if you like a drink, it doesn't matter about what it's called, so enjoy.

A Few More Things to Say About the Nutty Martini

The Martini is one of those cocktails with endless variations. The basis of the drink is so simple, so adding something little does a lot of change up the basic formula. You essentially have a different drink! That’s what’s fun about the Martini and about cocktails in general: endless possibilities! The Frangelico version of the Martini is just one of those variations. And it certainly tastes great!

Can I simply increase all the ingredients to make more Nutty Martinis?

That should be fine. This is a pretty simple cocktail, so putting more of everything in the cocktail shaker will work and also make it easier quickly make drinks for multiple people. Shake away!

Will it be fine to make this cocktail in advance?

Yes, if you want to prepare the Nutty Martini early so you can serve it later, that would work. Just don’t let it sit for too long with ice, otherwise you’ll dilute the drink. It would be better to store it in the fridge without ice before serving.

Is there a good time to try the Nutty Martini?

Frangelico has distinct hazelnut flavours, as well as tastes of chocolate and vanilla; it also has some herbal notes in there. All in all, Frangelico is a dessert drink, and this cocktail, the Nutty Martini, is no different. With the sweetness and hazelnutty-ness, it’s the perfect drink to have as a treat after a meal. You can have it with dessert or simply for dessert, your choice!

If you’re feeling particularly naughty, you may want to indulge on a Nutty Martini when it’s not dessert time. Perhaps if you’re at a cocktail party and you want something a little bit sweet and a little lit decadent, go ahead and get a Nutty Martini! You’ll stand out from the crowd, and what’s wrong with that. We hope you enjoy it.

How strong is the Nutty Martini?

It’s a little bit on the strong side, but only a little bit stronger than an average cocktail. A standard Vodka Martini has 60 mL of Vodka in it plus a bit of Dry Vermouth (which adds a little bit of alcohol, but not much in the scheme of things). This cocktail recipe also has 60 mL of Vodka but then an additional 20 mL of Frangelico. Frangelico sits at 24% alcohol by volume, so it’s not extremely strong, but it’s far from insignificant, which is why we’re saying that the Nutty Martini is a little bit stronger than average. If you’re taking the “average” as being a normal Martini that is.

However, if you’re drinking the Nutty Martini as a dessert drink and have been drinking wine or beer all night with dinner, of course this cocktail is going to be stronger than both of those! That’s just the nature of cocktails.

Either way, enjoy it and have fun.

What kind of music is the Nutty Martini?

While it’s a very elegant cocktail that tastes great, we here at What Cocktail Can I Make can’t completely get away from the name… of course it’s there to describe the hazelnut flavours found in the Frangelico, but we feel that it takes away from the classiness of the drink. It’s making it difficult to pair the cocktail with music! On the one hand, do we go with something fancy, or do we go with the (in our opinion) silly name. Even if we were to go with the name, it still doesn’t help us determine a type of music for the Nutty Martini.

While we’re usually quite good at putting music together with cocktails, we’re going to gracefully bow out of this one. As stressed, this is a great recipe, but we’re not feeling the name match up with the rest of it. It’s best not to push this further!

It’s good, but could be better. The frangelico works, but not really for me. Maybe it’s to someone else’s taste.
