A lot of the time when you think of a cocktail, you’ll be thinking of some wonderful and refreshing drink with Rum, some fruit juice, and maybe a little more. That’s why Rum is featured in so many cocktail recipes.

You’ll probably be familiar with a lot of the Rum cocktail recipes you’ll see on this list. However, we’ve tried to throw in some more unusual ones as well. Here’s some of the Rum cocktails that we like the best:

A Classic Daiquiri in a Martini glass on top of a cigar box.

Classic Daiquiri

The Daiquiri is the quintessential Rum cocktail, and it’s easy to make. All you need is White Rum, Lime Juice, and Simple Syrup and you’ve got yourself a Daiquiri. Of course, with a basic classic cocktail like this, there are also endless variations on it. So start with the Classic Daiquiri and go from there!

Beachcomber Cocktail

The Beachcomber Cocktail is a variation on the standard Daiquiri that, in addition to the White Rum and Lime Juice, also has Triple Sec and Maraschino Liqueur. As the additional ingredients add some sweetness to the tartness of the Lime Juice, there’s no need to add Simple Syrup. In fact, the Beachcomber is a little bit sweeter than a Classic Daiquiri, and it really works! The Beachcomber is exceptionally well balanced and tasty.

While it doesn’t look like it, the Beachcomber is actually a classic Tiki cocktail invented by Trader Vic. He’s famous for many great Tiki style cocktails, especially ones containing Rum and so much more.

Mojito

The Mojito is another classic and easy to make Rum cocktail. It’s made up of White Rum, Lime Juice, Sugar, Mint Leaves, and a little Soda Water. You’ll notice that it’s similar to the previous cocktails on the list, except with the Mint. The Soda also makes this drink a lot longer and a little bit easier to drink. And certainly more refreshing!

The recipe for the Mojito has been around forever. It’s so old there’s no clear story there, but what’s likely is it was adopted by sailors after having something similar created by Native Cubans. Of course it’s changed a lot since then, but it’s still a classic.

Try a Mojito on a hot day. It’s certainly refreshing and very enjoyable.

Mai Tai

If you want a great Rum cocktail but want something a little more involved, try a Mai Tai! All you need is White Rum, Dark Rum, Orange Curaçao, Lime Juice, and Orgeat. The Mai Tai is a very famous cocktail that can be found in beachside bars across the world.

Fog Cutter

Another slightly more involved Rum cocktail is the Fog Cutter. Its ingredient list includes White Rum, Gin, Brandy, Orange Juice, Lemon Juice, Orgeat, and Sherry. That’s four different types of alcohol including the Rum, so watch out! It’s got a kick to it…

The Fog Cutter is just one of many great Tiki cocktails. As you can tell, some of these recipes need a few things in them, but it’s well worth it. It’s great.

Between the Sheets

If you’re after something a little laid back, the Between the Sheets is a pre-Prohibition cocktail that’s made with White Rum, Cognac, Cointreau, and Lemon Juice. It’s simple, it’s elegant, and it’s a whole lot of fun.

Piña Colada

The Piña Colada looks elaborate, but it’s actually quite simple. All you need is White Rum, Pineapple Juice, and Cream of Coconut. That’s it. That’s the cocktail. With a bit of over the top garnish and a nice glass, the Piña Colada can appear to be a lot more than it actually is. However, the Piña Colada shows how a few simple ingredients combined  can create a great tasting drink that is better than the sum of its parts.

If you’re sitting by a pool or on the beach, this is the perfect cocktail to enjoy. Try one today, you won’t regret it.

Hurricane

The Hurricane is another great Rum cocktail, but has a bit of a longer ingredient list than some on this list. Take White Rum, Dark Rum, Lime Juice, Orange Juice, Passion Fruit Puree, Simple Syrup and Grenadine and shake them together for this wonderful drink.

While it takes more than a few ingredients to make a Hurricane, you can see that they’re mostly pretty common. It’s really mostly different juices mixed together to create something a bit different.

If you’re down for making some juice, try a Hurricane!

Rum Runner

Another fun Rum cocktail that combines both White and Dark Rum is the Rum Runner. To make this cocktail use White Rum, Dark Rum, Banana Liqueur, Blackberry Liqueur, Pineapple Juice, and Grenadine. There’s a bit in there but it’s a fun tropical drink that is super refreshing.

The Rum Runner comes to us from Key West in Florida. It’s an appropriate name for such a cocktail considering that’s where a lot of Rum was snuck into the United State during Prohibition. Thankfully we’re allowed all the Rum we want now and can enjoy cocktails like this!

Planters Punch

A Planters Punch uses Dark Rum, Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice, Grenadine, and a bit of Club Soda to calm things down a little bit. It’s a refreshing and tropical drink that’s designed to be enjoyed while relaxing.

Feel free to whip up a whole bunch of these to share with friends.
