This Tiki cocktail, the Beachcomber, was surprisingly not invented by Tiki pioneer Don the Beachcomber, but rather Trader Vic, another pioneer of the Tiki style. As Tiki cocktails go, this one is actually pretty simple, with ingredients most people will have on hand.In a way, this is a riff on a Classic Daiquiri, with Rum and Lime Juice, and a little bit more with Maraschino Liqueur and Triple Sec. So if you like a Dairquiri, you'll be sure to like this cocktail. The extra sugar provided by the additional ingredients make it a little less tart and sharp than a Daiquiri. While of course you can simply add more sugar to a Daiquiri, it makes it a little one dimensional. This is a great way to perk up a Daiquiri!Have fun with it!

Notes
As mentioned, despite the name, this cocktail was actually invented by Trader Vic and first appeared in the late 1940's. This puts it right in the heart of Tiki cocktail development and a classic!Although a classic, the Beachcomber cocktail has evolved a little bit over time. Most modern versions are similar to this recipe while the original version was blended and had slightly different proportions of ingredients. More modern recipes are for more modern sensibilities, so enjoy!
