Hazelnut Cherry Fizz

Print Recipe
The combination of cherry and hazelnut make this drink a winner. As a fizz, this is a longer drink that's plenty refreshing regardless of the weather. And don't worry, it still has plenty of kick, making it even more fun.
A lot of fizzes call for egg white to get the desired foam on top, not this one, but with plenty of shaking, and the addition of Soda Water, you should get the desired look and feel to this cocktail. If not, keep practicing and you'll have it in no time.

Notes

This is just one of many Fizz style drinks. It's a really fun style of drink. They look great and they taste great too. If you get into the style, there's plenty to explore. The ingredients are quite varied, but usually at least call for Soda Water and quite often an egg white. If you have at least those two, try checking what other cocktails can be made with ingredients you have. You may discover new Fizz style recipes or even other cocktails you can easily whip up at home.
Have fun!

We Have a Bit More to Say About the Hazelnut Cherry Fizz!

Fizz cocktails are really interesting.  A lot of them use use an Egg White which creates a bit of foam on top of the drink. Combine this with some sort of carbonated water and you get a really nice head on the drink. The Hazelnut Cherry Fizz doesn’t use Egg White unfortunately, but you get something similar with the Frangelico. And it’s fizzy so it’s even more fun. There’s just a certain quality about a fizz that really sets them apart. It’s kind of like a milkshake for adults.

Can this recipe be increased?

You could probably get away with shaking two servings of the Hazelnut Cherry Fizz at once, but any more and you probably won’t get a good shake going. It’s better to take your time with cocktails than to rush them!

Can this recipe be made in advance?

No, we wouldn’t recommend that. If you let the Hazelnut Cherry Fizz sit for too long, you’ll lose all that wonderful fizz! So make this cocktail when you’re ready to drink or serve it.

When is it perfect to try a Hazelnut Cherry Fizz?

At first glance this cocktail would feel like a good dessert drink. The Frangelico is rich and sweet, with further dessert like flavours coming from the Cherry Liqueur. It’s all calmed down by the Lime Juice so it doesn’t become too much! And yes, these flavours work very well as a dessert. However, long drinks like this don’t always do as well for dessert. After all, you’ve just eaten a meal, perhaps it was large, and having a tall glass of something fizzy isn’t necessarily the thing you want.

If you’re a big fan of Frangelico, perhaps this cocktail is an any time drink. You don’t really need an excuse or an opportunity to have one of these! For others, you may need to be in the mood for one of these.

And because of this, we feel like this is a mood kind of cocktail. It’s great, don’t get us wrong, but you need to pounce on it when it comes up. Maybe you had a relatively light meal, so a cocktail like this would be perfect for dessert. Perhaps this is a bit of a treat during afternoon cocktails.

This one is up to you!

How strong is a Hazelnut Cherry Fizz?

It’s a little on the strong side, yes. The amount of Vodka in this recipe isn’t over the top, but the addition of the Frangelico and Cherry Liqueur is where things start to get a little stronger. We’re not saying this is a crazy strong drink, but it’s definitely above average in strength.

Thankfully, this recipe calls for a relatively generous portion of Club Soda. This dilutes thing to ensure the taste isn’t too over the top while it also lowers the overall alcohol by volume. Sure, there’s still plenty of alcohol in there, it’s just watered down. So take your time while drinking a cocktail like this.

What kind of music can go with a Hazelnut Cherry Fizz?

As we mentioned earlier, a fizz cocktail, and especially this fizz cocktail, has an almost milkshake quality to it. There’s no milk or ice cream in there, but the flavours bring up those thoughts. This pushes us towards thoughts of old diners in the 1950’s which kids would come in to get milkshakes after school, 1950’s music playing on the juke box. And that’s the kind of music we’re thinking goes well here. Yep, try this cocktail with a little bit of 1950’s pop music or Rock and Roll. It will be fun!
