Mojito
Ingredients
- 60 mL White Rum
- 30 mL Lime Juice
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 6-8 Mint Leaves
- 30-45 mL Club Soda
Instructions
- Build this drink in a tall glass by muddling the Lime Juice, sugar, and mint in a mixing glass. Feel free to add one half of the squeezed out lime into the glass as well. The aim of the muddling is to express the oils of whatever you're muddling, not destroy or rip it, so use some care.
- Add Rum to the glass and stir.
- Fill the glass with ice then top it up with Club Soda.
- Stir and enjoy.

Our Review of the Mojito
It’s difficult to say anything negative about the Mojito: it’s easy to make, uses pretty simple ingredients and it tastes great!
My favourite cocktails are the timeless ones that are super easy to make. They’re the types of cocktails that you can come back to time after time, and the Mojito is one of those cocktails.
I’m probably showing my biases a little more here, but I always tend to prefer cocktails that are a little bit longer. When I want a drink I want aĀ drink, not just a couple of shots of liquid in a small glass. I want enough of a drink that I can actually enjoy what I’m having. Yes, something like a Martini falls into the easy to make, simple, and tastes great category, but there’s not much to drink there. Unless you’re being careful, your cocktail is gone before you know it.
If you prefer a shorter, quicker libation, perhaps the Mojito isn’t for you though. But other than that, there’s little to fault in this cocktail.
Assuming you’re making this cocktail at home, there are parts that you can mess up, despite it being a fairly basic cocktail. It’s easily possible to get over excited by the minty goodness and add to much. Or not get the right balance between the Lime Juice tang and the sweetness. Or add too much or too little Club Soda. Because of this, you may have a Mojito at a bar and find it’s not to your taste. You may make your own Mojito and find it not to your taste. Keep trying and you’ll find the right balance for you. And you won’t regret it.
