Tequila Piña del Oro

Print Recipe
Piña del Oro is Spanish for Golden Pineapple and, with a mixture of Tequila Reposado and Pineapple, it lives up to the name. There's almost a Tiki element to the the tropical aspects of this cocktail, as well as the somewhat strange addition of Sage Syrup. Although this isn't a Tiki cocktail, it's certainly refreshing and fun!
Make sure you serve this cocktail nice and cold but maximum refreshment. Also be sure to use fresh juice for best quality.

We Have a Bit More to Say About the Tequila Piña Del Oro

This is a very interesting cocktail recipe. Tequila and Pineapple Juice, what’s not to like! The Pineapple Juice creates a little bit of froth on top of the drink and gives the look of it a subtle golden colour (hence the name of the drink). Pineapple is lovely because it’s both sweet and sour, with the Lime Juice adding just a bit more flavour and Sage Syrup making sure things don’t get too out of control. Although we’ve seen it served on the rocks, we like it in a Wine or a Sherry glass. The roundness of glass gives the drink an almost Pineapple shape, and it really suits!

We love it.

Does shaking a few of these at once work?

Yes, you should be able to easily shake more than one of these cocktails. Just increase the all the ingredients evenly. Keep in mind that at some point you’ll fill up your shaker, so be sensible with this stuff!

Does making this cocktail in advance work?

Yes and no. Things are always better fresh and this is especially so with shaken cocktails. Even more especially for shaken cocktails with juice in them! The more freshly you can serve this cocktail the better.

Is there a good time to try the Tequila Piña Del Oro?

There’s a fruity fun to this cocktail, and the sharpness of the two juices give this recipe a real kick in the taste buds. It you get the drink nice and cold in the cocktail shaker, your glass will be nice and frosty and it will be a nice summer cooler. With this in mind, we think the Tequila Piña Del Oro makes an excellent hot weather drink. The Sage Syrup makes this drink smooth enough to take relatively large sips, but the fruit juices ensure that those sips don’t get too out of hand!

We always like cocktails like this in the afternoon. Maybe the late afternoon works best, but it’s not really a “before dinner drink.” But on a hotter afternoon in the summer, maybe as you’re just starting to think about pre-dinner drinks, the Tequila Piña Del Oro would go down a treat.

As stressed though, make sure you make your cocktail as cold as possible when you’re shaking it. Use plenty of ice in your shaker and shake it into you can’t hold it anymore it’s so cold. This will ensure ultimate refreshment and enjoyment!

How strong is the Tequila Piña Del Oro?

It’s actually about average in strengths, in terms of cocktails at least. Not only is the amount of Tequila used here not excessive (it’s an average amount of spirit for cocktails), it’s also fairly watered down by the Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice, and Sage Syrup. You’ll still get plenty of Tequila flavour in the (Tequila has pretty strong flavours after all!), but it’s mingled with everything else.

Although the Tequila Piña Del Oro is average for cocktails, don’t think that it’s low or mid strength. It’s still a cocktail and still have plenty of kick!

Is there a good genre of music that goes with the Tequila Piña Del Oro?

Pineapple Juice always gives a cocktail a uniquely tropical feeling to it. While Rum is usually the spirit of choice if you’re going to be trying to make something tropical, Tequila has a different flavour that makes this drink simultaneously tropical but also somehow arid. It’s like sitting in an oasis in the middle of the dessert.

For music to go with this cocktail, we want something laid back and relaxing. Something to take refuge in like that dessert oasis. A bit of light acoustic guitar music would be lovely here. It’s the kind of music you use to take a break with. We’re not saying you’re stranded in the dessert, but it’s been a long day and finally you made it to a quiet and cool oasis. You’re traveling with your guitar and decide to have a strum while sitting in the shade. Somehow a Tequila Piña Del Oro appears, and you sip at it while you play your guitar.

Sounds great!
